MEET KELVIN

Kelvin J. Lawrence was elected to the Alabama House of Representatives on November 4, 2014. Kelvin represents House District 69, and serves on three committees. He is a lifelong resident of Hayneville, AL, His education includes Saint Jude Educational Institute and Alabama State University.

Representative Kelvin J. Lawrence served as Mayor of the Town of Hayneville from August 28, 2012 until November 4, 2014. For the past 26 years, Representative Lawrence has focused his career on entrepreneurship and community service. Representative Lawrence is the President of Kelvin Developing Co., Inc. a successful development company. Representative Lawrence also owns and operates several Subway Sandwich Shop franchises. He has served his community in many capacities, to include Vice President of Keepers of the Brotherhood non- profit organization, past board member of the Hayneville Boys and Girls Club, American Red Cross donor, past advisor and board member for Ark of Love Ministries, and member of the Family Guidance Policy Council. River region United way board member. Member of Leadership Montgomery Class XXXIX, and Leadership Alabama Class XXXIII.

Aside from serving his community, Representative Lawrence most importantly serves his Heavenly Father as a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church #2. His service to his church includes: Deacon Board Ministry, Youth Mass, Sanctuary, and Male Chorus member, and a Youth Advisor.

His involvement extends even further as he is also a member of the Lowndes County Chapter of the New South Coalition, Alabama Democratic Party, Prince Hall Masonry, Alabama State University Alumni Association. He has many accolades to include the 2012 Entrepreneurship award and many other community leadership awards.
